Autoroute du Nord : Le gouvernement se mobilise contre les inondations au PK 24
Faced with the imminent return of rains, the Ivorian State is taking action to secure the critical point of PK 24. On Friday, April 10, 2026, a ministerial delegation composed of Dr. Amédé Koffi Kouakou (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) and Hien Sié Yacouba (Infrastructure and Road Maintenance) went to the site to define an emergency action plan.
The objective is clear: to avoid paralyzing the Northern Highway, as happened last year. To achieve this, the authorities have announced several priority interventions:
"One-off interventions are no longer sufficient. We must combine the urgency with a short and medium-term vision to definitively resolve this problem," stated Minister Amédé Kouakou.
The technical diagnosis is unequivocal: the natural drainage basin has been severely degraded by uncoordinated human development. Minister Hien Sié Yacouba reiterated that a highway closure, even for just one day, represents an unacceptable blow to the national economy.
The government does not intend to act alone. A firm appeal has been launched to local residents and industrial operators in the area:
Alongside these emergency works, further studies are already underway to design long-term solutions that will sustainably transform stormwater management in this sector.
