Since March 9, 2026 , Abidjan has been hosting a strategic meeting for the future of public policy in West Africa. Experts from ECOWAS member states and Mauritania are gathered there for two major technical workshops aimed at transforming the regional statistical landscape.

A matter of sovereignty and development

The objective of this meeting, which will conclude on March 13, is clear: to harmonize and modernize data collection and processing systems. For decision-makers, having access to reliable and comparable economic and social statistics is essential for effectively managing development projects.

The pillars of the project

This work is part of the PHASAOC (Project for Harmonization and Improvement of Statistics in West and Central Africa), an initiative supported by the World Bank .

3. The expected result: High-quality data dissemination for better monitoring of community policies.
