Drame à New York : elle chute mortellement dans une trappe ouverte en sortant de sa voiture
A woman in her fifties lost her life Monday night in New York after falling into a technical conduit with unsecured access.
On Monday evening, a 56-year-old woman fell to her death from a height of three meters . According to initial findings of the investigation, the victim had just parked her black vehicle along the side of the road. As she exited the vehicle on the driver's side, she fell directly into the hole, as a service hatch had been left open without any protection.
Found unresponsive by emergency services, she was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
For now, the New York Police Department (NYPD) is continuing its investigations.
"No arrests have been made so far and the investigation is still ongoing," a law enforcement spokesperson said.
Since the tragedy, emergency safety barriers have been installed around the cavity to prevent another accident.
Con Edison , the company responsible for managing this underground conduit, reacted publicly, saying it was "deeply saddened" by this tragedy.
