At the close of the first ordinary session of 2026 of the Economic, Social, Environmental and Cultural Council (CESEC) this Thursday, June 25, its president, Eugène Aka Aouélé, expressed the ambition to see the work of the institution act as an accelerator of progress and national cohesion.

"I hope that the resolutions and recommendations adopted will provide an additional lever for the harmonious development of our country and the strengthening of social peace," he stated, recalling the importance of dialogue and the general interest in meeting the expectations of Ivorians.

Two major strategic opinions adopted

The outcome of this session is reflected in particular by the adoption of two opinions put forward by the standing committees:

  1. Agribusiness: Positioned as an engine of food sovereignty, economic diversification and the creation of sustainable jobs, particularly for women and young people.
  2. Plastic waste management: A focus on public health and the environment, advocating the development of recycling and the circular economy to generate value while preserving the living environment.

An institution at the heart of public action

The session was punctuated by a series of initiatives aimed at enriching the institution's thinking and grounding it in the realities of the country:

  1. High-level conferences: Exchanges with members of the government addressed civil service reforms, governance, universal access to drinking water and national industrialization.
  2. Focus on the 2026-2030 National Development Plan: A presentation of the National Development Plan was shared in order to align the future recommendations of the CESEC with the major economic orientations of the State.
  3. Field visits: The advisors visited the User-Client Relations Centre (CRUC) of the Ministry of Public Service to observe administrative modernization, as well as Plastica Côte d'Ivoire to analyze the recycling sector.

International influence and institutional solidarity

On the international stage, CESEC participated in a mission to the United States alongside the Ministry of Higher Education, as part of the Côte d'Ivoire–Silicon Valley Task Force . The objective: to draw inspiration from the best innovation models to transform Ivorian universities into hubs of youth entrepreneurship.

As a sign of the strong cohesion between public authorities, the closing ceremony brought together several state figures, including the president of the National Assembly, Patrick Achi.
