Le Gabon réintègre le Conseil de paix et de sécurité de l’Union Africaine
Gabon continues its return to the international diplomatic scene. On Wednesday, February 11, during the 48th Ordinary Session of the AU Executive Council in Addis Ababa, the country was elected a member of the Peace and Security Council (PSC).
Following the suspension of elections after the 2023 coup, this election marks a key step for Libreville. By joining this decision-making body, Gabon will actively participate in crisis management and the maintenance of stability on the continent.
The President of the Transition, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, hailed it as a victory for Gabonese diplomacy, seeing it as a sign of renewed "confidence" and "credibility." This success comes just before the summit of heads of state scheduled for February 14, which the Gabonese president will attend.
