Sécurité nationale : Lancement d'un projet majeur pour sécuriser le Nord de la Côte d'Ivoire
The Minister of the Interior and Security, Vagondo Diomandé, officially launched on Monday, July 6, 2026, a new strategic project aimed at strengthening border management and community resilience in the northern part of the country.
The ceremony was held in the presence of David Preux, head of mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Ivory Coast, and H.E. Gomakubo Junji, Ambassador of Japan.
Funded by the Japanese government and implemented with technical support from the IOM, this one-year program pursues three major objectives:
This initiative embodies the vision of President Alassane Ouattara, who places the security of the territory, the strengthening of the authority of the State and the modernization of the administration at the heart of government priorities.
The event was also an opportunity to celebrate the results of the pilot phase of the MIDAS system (Migration Data Information and Analysis System), deployed at the Kalamon border post.
According to Minister Vagondo Diomandé, this technological tool has already proven its effectiveness by enabling:
"The Ivorian government expresses its deep gratitude to Japan and the IOM for their continued support in modernizing our migration system and strengthening our national security," the minister concluded.
