Cameroun : Neuf civils tués et neuf blessés dans une attaque de Boko Haram à l'Extrême-Nord
A new tragedy has struck the Far North region of Cameroon. On the night of July 2-3, 2026, heavily armed assailants from the Boko Haram terrorist group targeted the village of Milari, located less than ten kilometers from the town of Kousseri. The toll from this nighttime incursion is heavy: nine dead and nine wounded among the civilian population.
According to reports in the daily newspaper L'Œil du Sahel , this extremely violent act appears to be an act of revenge by the armed group. The villagers had recently discovered a weapons cache belonging to the terrorists and had reported it to the authorities, handing over the equipment.
All the deceased victims have been identified by local authorities:
The bodies have been officially returned to their families for burial. As for the nine injured, they were immediately evacuated to health centers in Kala-Kafra and Kousseri, where they are currently receiving intensive care.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, the prefect of the Logone-et-Chari department, Mathias Fombele Tayem, visited the site of the attack. In addition to conveying the message of solidarity and the state's support to the bereaved families, the head of the administration visited the injured and began an assessment of the urgent humanitarian and security needs of the affected populations.
