As the high-stakes 2026 examinations approach, the Network of Civil Society Organizations for Education and Literacy in Côte d'Ivoire (ROECI) is taking action. At a press conference held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Ivoire Golf Club (Cocody), the organization's board president, Christophe Gnagbo, made a strong appeal for collective responsibility to ensure fair and transparent examinations.

A firm message to candidates: Success through merit

The ROECI encourages students to approach the exams calmly, but above all, honestly. Christophe Gnagbo urged students to definitively turn their backs on cheating.

"Have the will to succeed with dignity, through work and your own efforts. Resolutely turn your back on cheating in all its forms," he insisted.

The network's president also took the opportunity to remind everyone of the Damocles' sword hanging over those who cheat. The penalties are severe and can include a five-year ban from taking any exams , not to mention potential prison sentences .

Parents and community: A shared responsibility

For the ROECI, the fight against fraud and the success of students do not rely solely on schools. Parents are called upon to play a leading role through close supervision and constant moral support during this stressful period. Recalling that children are "society's most precious asset," Mr. Gnagbo emphasized the need for families to be fully present and available to support them.

A tribute to state reforms and social dialogue

The organization welcomed the significant progress made during the 2025-2026 academic year, highlighting the Ivorian government's efforts to raise the level of the education system. Among the positive points:

1. The recruitment of 2,000 contract teachers in mathematics and physics-chemistry, a major lever to boost scientific fields.
2. The construction of 3,000 primary school classrooms .

Finally, tribute was paid to the education and training sector unions. By prioritizing social dialogue over confrontation, they helped ensure a peaceful school year, conducive to exam preparation.
